This hand is really easy and the lure of ruffing should be avoided. This hand will play itself. All you have to do is draw trumps in tow rounds followed by the Diamond Ace to get rid of your Spade loser and then  merely lead up the dummy’s Hearts. If West doesn’t take his Ace immediately then the lucky lie of the hearts breaking 3:3 will mean that declarer will be able to make all thirteen tricks. However West goes in  with his Ace and plays a second Heart, trying to bring an end to  this hand as quickly and as painlessly  as possible J.

Declarer will make 5 trumps, 1 Diamond, 5 Hearts and 1 Spade and despite dummy’s void and declarer’s singleton, nothing needs to get ruffed.

You can also watch the following movie to see how the hand pans out. To view this programme you will need  to download htttp://www.haroldschogger.com/bridgevu.setup
