When I played this hand on OK Bridge I immediately decided I would play for split honours in clubs and lead twice from dummy playing East for one of the missing Club Honours, normally 75% chance of success and I went one off before you could say Jack Robinson... However my thinking was to say the least completely bizarre. If I had taken in the lead of the ª5 I would know that East has the missing Ace. If this is the case then WEST MUST hold the Club King for his overcall. (He cannot be a complete idiot overcalling with just the Spade King). So all I had to do was draw trumps and play Ace and another club towards dummy’s Queen. Now its plain sailing winning 5 trumps, 4 Diamonds (when the diamonds broke kindly) and 3 clubs.

You can also watch the following movie to see how the hand pans out. To view this programme you will need  to download htttp://www.haroldschogger.com/bridgevu.setup

  alternatively watch the film www.haroldschogger.com/movies2.htm
