This hand comes from the Middlesex Congress in December 2019 and my esteemed partner,  Peter Hasenson, showed us how to make 10 tricks without any guessing

After winning the third trick with Ace of Hearts he drew trumps in two rounds and ruffed a Heart. This resulted in Hearts being eliminated from both hands..

Trumps had been eliminated from the opponents’ hands so they had no safe exit card. It was now a matter of playing the last Diamond from both hands and whoever won would either give away a ruff and discard for the 10th trick or open up the club suit giving away the location of the missing Queen. Bidding and making 4ª was going to be a very good score with only 21 High Card Points between the tow hands.

He observed afterwards that had he guessed clubs correctly he would make an overtrick dumping the Diamond loser on the 13th Club. However, he was right and making 4ª proved to give us an 80% score without any guessing..
