When this hand came up on OK Bridge my partner put all her eggs in one basket and relied on Diamonds breaking 33. However that was not to be and she unfortunately went one off.

The opponents have led Spades in which you have three controlling cards so what is the hurry to play Diamonds? Is there a chance you can get your 9^th trick elsewhere.

Although not obvious, you have 7 clubs between your hand and dummy and if the clubs split 3:3 you can afford to play on the club suit for your 9^th trick

So without much ado at trick two play a club and whatever they play back at you play clubs again and again. When the clubs did in fact break 3:3 the 13^th club became your 9^th trick.
