Playing Match Points both as declarer and defender your aim is to maximize tricks rather than making or defeating the contract. On this hand played at the Eilat bridge club West lazily played and other spade and declarer immediately claimed 12 tricks by way of 6 trumps, 5 clubs and the Spade queen. If West switches to a Diamond at trick two he gets a few  more Match points in his score because he will now accumulate 2 defensive tricks instead of a measly one.
