Playing
Match Points, you lead your 4th highest diamond ¨6,
declarer plays low from dummy partner wins with Queen and plays back the ¨7
plan your defence.
If you want to reap the benefit of your
Lovely Diamond suit you must not cut yourself off from partner. Since you have
no entries outside the Diamond suit and you know partner originally started with
3 card suit from the play of his first two cards Q then 7 (declarer following
with 2 then 10) it is absolutely vital to duck the second Diamond trick. Now
when partner gets in with either of his 2 Aces you will be able to restrict
declarer to just the 7 tricks. If you are in hurry to take your Diamond Ace at
trick two declarer will have no problem in wrapping up 9 tricks.
