do you make your contract after the lead of the ¨5
?
This
hand comes from Bridge Challenges, one of the many utilities on the Bridge Baron
15 programme to help you improve or merely give you opportunity to practice your
favorite conventions or even participate in games online. The new release
version 15 contains
10 new conventions plus an extra 168 problems and you can choose from 40
skill levels.
On
the hand above the key is not to get “Forced” and lose control of the trump
suit. On the first trick you play low from dummy and when East plays the 10 you
discard a club.
East
wins the first trick but can make no damaging lead. His actual heart lead simply
sets up your side suit, and when West resumes the attack on diamonds it is too
late. You are able to win, knock out the ªA,
regain the lead and run the rest of the tricks. Thus you lose only the 2 aces
and a diamond trick. If you try a finesse in diamonds, or trump the opening
lead, you go down.
