This is the same hand as a week ago when my partner failed to lead my suit and decided to lead from his Diamond holding thinking that declarer must have really good Hearts sitting over me- TRUST PARTNER and still lead Hearts.
However, my partner was not on same wave length as me and led a Diamond.
Fortunately declarer was unable to take advantage of this lead and still went one down.
How do you now take advantage of the lead?
Assuming East has all the important cards, barring Diamonds, how do you play the hand out? If West has led a Diamond, you now have one extra entry to dummy and you will be able to finesse clubs.
You should try the Queen at trick one which holds. You then play dummy’s Club Jack and let it run finessing East for the Queen (NB Even if it fails you can later overtake the Club to get to dummy.
The finesse wins. You now play the Club Ace. You then get to dummy with the Heart Ace and cash all your winning Clubs.
You eventually make 1 Heart, 2 Diamonds and 6 clubs and get away with Blue murder - Trust partner and lead his suit next time !!
