2♦ shows 55 in the Majors i.e. Michaels Cue Bid
My friend played this hand against me and unfortunately played it to
perfection and brought home 11 tricks.
After losing the first two tricks there was no room for any mistakes.
His winners totalled 3 Diamonds 1 Heart (now that the Ace had gone) and
2 Clubs so he needed 5 more.
One would come from trumps breaking kindly. Tw more would coming from
ruffing Spades twice and somehow he would need 4 club tricks.
With all this in mind, he won the third trick with dummy's Heart queen and then re-entered his hand to trump a Spade. He now drew a second round of trumps. He now knew that West's hand "must be" 5 Spades, 5 Hearts (from the MIchaels Cue bid) 2 Diamonds and at most 1 club.
He now played a low club from dummy inserting his Ace and bringing down
the queen from West. He now trumped one more spade in dummy before
finessing his Club 9.
Having ruffed the spade twice he could now draw the last trump and claim
two more club tricks and his contract.
He made 4 trumps from the long hand (his hand) 4 Clubs, 1 Heart and 2
spade ruffs and leaving me with - 5imps UGH but a worthy Hand of the
week.
