This hand is a delightful hand to show the merits of stripping the hand down in order to make 11 tricks when all the cards lie badly and there could be three losers if all the important cards lie over the KJ of Diamonds in dummy.
The first thing about having a PROBLEM SUIT is NOT TO TOUCH IT FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.
So after winning the first trick, draw trumps in three rounds. Now play off winning Hearts and clubs so that you have neither clubs nor Hearts in either hand making sure to end up in hand. Now you can take the first Diamond finesse from hand inserting the Jack. Although this loses to East’s Queen East is now well and truly end-played. If he plays back a non Diamond he gives you a ruff and discard allowing you to restrict your Diamond losers to just two and if he plays a Diamond he presents you with a Diamond trick, and your eleventh winner.
