Our hand this week comes from the MPS event at the 2015 Red Sea Bridge festival and after trumping the second trick, you should draw trumps and merely concede two trump tricks to East.
You will make 1 Spade ruffed, 4 trumps from the long hand and 5 tricks from Clubs and Diamonds.
When I was defending this hand I sat East and in the most stupid play ever I won the first tricks and played back Ace and another trump at trick two and three to try and deprive declarer of trumping Spades in dummy. This was indeed flawed reasoning because if we were to get a trick in the Minors all I had to do was play a second round of Spades to force declarer to come down to the singleton Heart queen in dummy and I would now be guaranteed 2 trump tricks as well as the one Spade. Letting through 11 tricks was rightly so a huge bottom score !!
