2§ showed interest in both Majors
On our hand this week we are lucky to have escaped from a Heart lead that would have given us no chance so how do we now make 3NT?
Initially after the Spade lead we have 7 tricks from 2 Spades, 4 Diamonds and 1 Club.
From the bidding it seems that West has all the outstanding points and hopefully the Club King
The hand is all about AVOIDANCE and keeping East, the danger hand) off lead, so he cannot play a Heart through.
So after winning the first trick we take a successful club finesse.
We now return to hand to take play another club up to dummy’s Ace. However when West plays the King we duck and allow him to win the trick so keeping the lead with West who can do us no harm.
West gets off lead with a safe Diamond and once we get back in and cash all our minor suit winners, eventually we come to an overtrick when poor West has to lead away from his AQ of Hearts at the 11th hour.
We eventually made 2 Spades, 2 Hearts 4 Diamonds and 3 clubs.
