This hand originally came from The Evening Standard and
David Bird, the well known author, tells us how important it is to be a
considerate partner. Having won the first trick, cash the King of Hearts, before
returning a low Diamond. Now partner will win the Ace and switch back to Hearts
and now the defence will take the first five tricks by way of two Diamonds
(only) and three Hearts. Any other defence and aimlessly playing a third Diamond
prematurely will result in declarer easily grabbing 9 or 10 tricks . You can also view
watch the following movie to see how the hand pans out. (You need bridgvu.exe
programme or BridgeBase programme on your machine already to view it ) and it is available free
