The auction suggests that South is very minimum as he passed his partner’s invitational response. You can see three winning Diamonds in dummy which might take care of any losers declarer may have. Therefore ACTIVE DEFENSE is now needed. You must switch to a low club and partner will cash two clubs and play a third one for you to win and now you will obtain 5 defensive tricks – 3 clubs and 2 aces. (Cashing the Spade Ace first, before switching, also works, but quite frankly this is time wasting as it leads nowhere). If you opted for passive defense and did not find the switch declarer will clear chuck all his club losers on dummy’s Diamonds.
