My thinking partner, decided she didn't want to give anything away and didn't want to lead away from her 3 honours around to South, the known powerhouse, so she led ♥7 and waited for her tricks to come to her.

Partner won the first trick and returned a 2nd Heart won by declarer. Declarer now played Spades carefully i.e. the ♠Ace first, catering for a 4:0 split. Because of her due care and attention she was now able to finesse West for the missing ♠Jack She then cashed her Spade winners ending in dummy. She cashed a top club just in case club Queen was singleton before entering the dummy with the ♦King and now took the Club finesse which didn't work

Declarer was now able to claim the rest. she had made 5 Spades, 2 Hearts 2 Diamonds and 2 clubs but despite her good play, she was up against a good defender too and had lost 1 Club and 1 Heart.
