This hand comes from the Red Sea bridge festival 2019 in Israel and I managed to screw it up. Like all my students I wanted to ruff .
If I could ruff Spades twice on table I could see my way to 10 tricks but this thinking was not at all good.
All I had to do was practice what I preach and set up the second suit after drawing trumps.
After winning the first trick in dummy I should take the safety play and run the spade to the Jack and when East plays low it holds.
Now after seeing the 4:0 break I I need to leave the trumps alone and get on with the Diamonds.
I play Ace and another Diamond and West pops up with the King. He attempts to cash the top Heart but I can trump.
I now head over to the Club King and play a top Diamond which East trumps and I can now overtrump. I can now cash a top Spade leaving West with the winner and I still have a trump in dummy to take a force in clubs should the opposition play another club.
I now play Ace and another club ruffing in dummy.
Now in dummy I and play a winning Diamond and East can trump in when he likes but I have made 11 tricks instead of going one off.
Now I lose one trump and one Dia|
