This is a good hand for counting both winners and losers, a habit you should get used to on ALL hands.

Initially you only have 5 winners – 3 top clubs and two top Diamonds.

On the loser front you have 1 Spade loser, up to two maybe three Heart losers (if you are extremely unlucky) and no losers in the minors- much better reading of losers than winners. You might have a club loser if you run out of trumps in dummy, most likely scenario with dummy be the short hand in trumps.

With all this in mind you will have to establish one spade for a discard of a club loser. So after winning the first trick, immediately play Spade king which East wins. He plays back a club which you win in dummy. You must now play three rounds of Diamonds ruffing the third round in dummy, Now you can now pitch a club on the second spade before finally taking a Heart finesse inserting the jack

This draws the Ace and West promptly plays a Club which East trumps with the ©10. East gets off lead with a spade and you of course ruff with the 8 and now you can draw the last trumps and make your contract, pleased to see the Queen falling and the suit breaking 3-2

You eventually made 1 Spade, 2 Clubs, 2 Diamonds 1 Diamond ruff and 4 trumps, losing two trumps and 1 spade.
