**NB 2NT shows 6-10 points and 5:5 in the Minors
On this hand from the Grand Masters' Pairs event East West were playing a 2NT Opening bid to show 5;5 in the minors and a weak hand 6-10.
After the lead the hand becomes almost an Open book as we know that the lead has to be a singleton otherwise with a singleton trump West might have led from one of his suits so hopefully the Hearts are no worse than 4:2 divided.
After winning the first trick you should play Ace and another heart finessing East for the missing Queen and 10.Whne this finesse works you cannot draw the last trump yet as you need to get to dummy to finesse again. Therefore play a low Diamond up to the King .West goes in with the Ace and plays the Club Jack. You now know the clubs are 5:2 with East holding either the Ace or King of Clubs . You need to block the suit and just play low on the club switch. As expected West plays another club and you play low again as East has to play his Ace. Whatever east now plays back you will be ok as you win in dummy and take another trump finesse.
You will now make 4 Spades, 4 Hearts and the King of Diamonds for a very nice imps score.
