This hand comes from Jewish Care’s Bridge Extravaganza and East is put to the test at trick 4 as what to play next.

 Partner is known to hold the ©Q but you can only cash one more trick in that suit. The Diamonds are lingering in dummy for declarer to discard  any losers he might have. After winning the Diamond Ace switch to the §Queen and now partner will have no problems in establishing a trick in this suit to bring the tally to 4 tricks for the defence rather than giving a complete top away by allowing 10 tricks through.

My partner didn’t switch to a Club but played back my suit and after winning the Heart I should have switched to a club instead of playing passively. Now declarer drew out my Diamond King and we never got to make a Club trick. 10 tricks by declarer got all the Match points, the club loser going away on the Diamond suit..
