This hand looks like lots of tricks from Spades and Hearts but what if the opposition gets 4 tricks quickly from the Minor Suits first?

After the club lead you have to play low from dummy, not minding if East, the safe hand, gets the lead.

After winning the first trick, East switches to a trump.

You draw only three  rounds of trumps, disappointed to see the bad break, otherwise you start squeezing yourself as you can only really afford three discards (ie 2 Diamonds and 1 Heart)

You can now take the Hearts finesse and if it fails you will be losing to East who is the safe hand

When the finesse wins you can now take two discards.

You cash two more hearts and trump a heart. Now dummy’s fifth Heart has become high.

You can now draw one more round of trumps, leaving the master trump out.

With the carefully preserved Club Ace you return to dummy to pitch a losing club on the established Heart, while West ruffs.

You now make one more trump

You eventually made 5 trumps, 3 Hearts, 1 established Heart and 1 club.
