On this hand from the EBU Summer meeting 2014, West led the King of Diamonds and you take stock. Initially things look very bleak with just 5 winners- 2 Hearts, 2 Clubs and 1 Diamond and losers galore, 1 maybe in trumps, 2/3 in Spades and one in each minor.

Therefore to bring home this contract

     a) the Bridge Gods will have to be a little on your side and

     b) you will have to keep on endplaying the opponents so that they help you

         bring  home 10 tricks.

With this in mind you win the first trick and play two rounds of trumps delighted to see the trumps break 2:2 (That's the Bridge God's Blessing).

Now exit with a Diamond (your first loser).

West is on lead and gets off lead by playing a Spade won by East who plays back a Spade to East's Ace (2nd loser) who plays a second Spade. You take the King and now exit with a Spade to West's Queen (3rd loser). You have now managed   to eliminate Spades and Diamonds and West is endplayed and either has to open up the clubs and you will play for split honours or give a ruff and discard if he should play a Diamond or the last Spade.

You eventually make, 1 Spade, 5 trumps 1 Diamond and 3 Clubs for a very well played hand.
