Now to the Diamond suit. You can take a mere finesse and let the Queen run or you can use Zia Mahmood’s famous winning Bols tip called Roll over Houdini where he says if they don’t cover they haven’t got it.

 At trick 2 you play dummy’s Queen of Diamonds and when East plays low most of the time he will not have the missing King as he went to the school of hard knocks which said “you cover and honour with an honour”

You Ace your own Queen and up pops a kindly singleton King, not because you have had a peek at the opponents cards but because you used Zia’s tip. Yes West had the King- it was lucky it was singleton. Now you cash out and take all the diamonds and 2 spades. In total you have amassed 10 tricks by way of 1 Club. 7 diamonds and 2 spades and you thank Mr Mahmood very much.
