What is the lead of the §3 ? Partner has not led his suit despite you supporting him. He is also known to hold a six card Diamond suit so there is a high chance he will have a singleton somewhere. The “Singleton Somewhere” is now likely to be in clubs although 3s as singletons are hard to pick up. Without further ado, you must play back your lowest club as a suit preference for a Diamond return.

Partner duly ruffs and it is now up to him to trust you and underlead from his Diamond suit to your King and now you can furnish him with another ruff. He must realise that you have probably got 4 Diamonds for a free bid of 4¨ and should not be in hurry to cash the Ace first. He can work this out by counting his defensive tricks and deduce that the only way to break the contract is with a second Club ruff knowing declarer must have the remaining high card points for his original Opening bid.
