This hand was recently played on OK Bridge and my partner confidently set about the Diamond suit first so that he would not lose control of the trump suit and also so that he could cope if the likely trump break was 4:2.
He won the first trick and immediately plays Ace and another Diamond surprised to see diamonds breaking favourably. The opposition now played another club which declarer won, throwing a losing Heart. Declarer now broached trumps and played dummy’s King taken by the Ace. The defender now put dummy on play with a Heart ruffed by dummy. Now declarer drew a second round of trumps before playing winning Diamonds. Poor East was going to get just one more trumps and declarer racked up 3 trumps, 1 Heart ruffed, 3 Diamonds and 2 clubs for a deserved overtrick and +4 imps
