The following hand comes from the 2009 Red Sea Bridge Festival in Eilat and my esteemed partner, Rob Lawy, was certainly on the ball on this hand and realized that if he got thrown in he would present declarer with her 9th trick. With this in mind on the run of the Clubs he decided to play me for the Diamond 10 and unblocked his Diamond Queen and Jack on the fourth and fifth rounds of Clubs. Now when declarer tried to throw him in at trick 8 it did not happen. I was able to win the Diamond Ten and cash a winning Heart before playing a spade to finesse dummy’s King, partner winning the last two tricks with the Spade Ace and Queen.
