If you haven’t listened to the auction carefully you might lead normal 4^th highest ©2 but you have listened and you will use this to help you make the best lead. North has announced a Major suit, presumably Hearts since he didn’t agree South’s offer of the Spade suit. South is known to hold Spades, Therefore the choice is between the two minors. Your Clubs are a bit anaemic so you turn to the Diamond suit and hope you find partner. With such a nice Sequence holding the Diamond Jack should be on the table. Hopefully partner will contain himself and not show his gratitude in too an obvious fashion but will merely follow suit with the ¨8 at trick one. You will now defeat the contract by tow tricks. Any other lead and declarer has the time to set up enough tricks to bring his contract home.
